Why write a blog??
Well for a start I think every English teacher I’ve ever had will think this is hilarious (please don’t check the spelling and grammar!) I’m always up for a challenge and proving people wrong, so this for you OHS staff of 1998-2004. And yes, that’s the right amount of years to be in school, I didn’t have to repeat any. (Much to a lot of surprise!)
The other reason I thought I would write this is that it’s very therapeutic (she says after completing 5 lines!). Who knows, something might resonate with someone one day. If that happens to be you, get in touch!
So this is going to mainly be a Thursday thing in the hope that something worth writing about happens over the following few days. Even if it doesn’t , I’ve got a whole week to make up a wee tale or 5. Anyway, here goes….
Last week I turned 33 and I got a lovely bike for my birthday. She’s Welsh (the bike) and apparently used to belong to a girl who’s really good on bikes and won some bike related trophies. What a dive the poor bike has taken – I went out on my first bike ride on Tuesday and took her to The Old Inn where I had a wee half cider to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Safe to say I won’t be winning any awards. BUT, I am now really chuffed I can make it to the pub in 3 minutes and 43 seconds, result!
Oh and if anyone has some suggestions for a bike name that would be great!
On a slightly more philosophical note, on Tuesday I did some good in the world. Not looking for any type of praise here, but it made me think about how a small simple act can make such an impact. I was walking back from Connel shop to the surgery – killing time because I completely forgot that pharmacists take lunch breaks – and I happened across a woman pushing a wheelbarrow. There wasn’t much in it and I offered to take it for her as I was walking that way anyway. Needless to say she was delighted. Her husband was recently out of hospital and she was trying to stop him from doing too much. The only thing is, it made me feel quite good which means the great debate between Joey and Phoebe in F.R.I.E.N.D.S is still relevant – is there such a thing as a selfless good deed?? Answers in the comments please
Meet Colin – he’s the featured image this week. Colin the Chameleon for his proper title. He will likely star in a lot of photos on here, mainly because he’s pretty awesome. What a cracking birthday present eh?! Some start to 33!
Here he is posing with Castle Stalker in the background.
Did you know it’s the law that anyone who lives in Appin must have a picture up somewhere of the castle?*
That's me been on 2 cycles this week, both involved eating and drinking! I wonder if I might be the only person to ever get a bike and then put weight on?
Needless to say I now think I'm a professional.
In all honesty though, if you do see out and about, maybe best steer clear....
If you got this far, well done!
Short and sweet this week, a bit like me after the Guild Sale of Work in the Appin hall tonight.
I'm not actually expecting anyone to really read this, but if you want to, you can sign up for the latest "escapades." Anywhere you see the horrendous photo of me with the traffic cone hat, there also ye will find the subscription box. Even more points if anyone leaves a comment! Whoa, calm down.
* not an actual law, but if you don’t have one then the people will judge. They may even call a meeting to discuss!
Met this pair on my cycle today, apparently they weren’t bothered it was about a million degrees!
