Apologies for the size of that video! But once again Thursday has arrived and I’m obviously rushing to get this out! So that’s me on Monday in Copenhagen. Yes, you can just scoot about the streets without a care or even a lesson! The good people of Copenhagen have got no clue about my scooterage skills and yet there I am. All you need is an app! Not even a hint of a license check and I was away. I mounted the pavement a few times by mistake but I didn’t run anyone over so that’s a bonus I suppose.
Anyway in the past week I’ve been to Germany, Sweden and Denmark on a bit of an epic adventure!
1,821 mile round trip from Edinburgh 🙂
I only technically stepped out the station in Malmö for a few minutes but I'm still counting that as having visited Sweden.
Train on a boat!
We got the overnight train from Berlin to Malmö and let me tell you, that's the hottest and sweatiest and smelliest I've ever been!! EVER!!! 6 people to a cabin and no air con makes for a very interesting journey. But, it was SO COOL! They put the train on a boat! Yep, just drive it straight on there and off again in Sweden. It's amazing. Calmac eat your heart out!
The boat was fairly epic as well. I was asleep for most of the time but managed to wake up and get a wee walk out on deck for some (much needed) fresh air.
First order of the day in Berlin was obviously beer and food. Mainland Europe did NAAAAT disappoint in the food department, I particularly enjoyed their love of brunch! So remember last week when I said I was on my health kick? I didn’t do too badly on holiday…. but I didn’t stick to it rigidly either. I went to the gym on Wednesday and was surprised to find out I had improved – even in a week!
Last week my subscribers got a special discount on all programmes with Feel Good Fitness – remember to sign up for more news and the odd wee surprise. If you sign up this week, the discount is still available and there’s another wee surprise this week too! Luck you. (It’s essentially a wee reward for making it through this nonsense every week).
Here’s a wee selection of some of the amazing food I tried…
Aren’t they just ridiculous?! I’m going to try and recreate one of them this weekend….. the chances of me getting it to look anything like the photo are slim to actual zero! I’ll let you know how I get on…
I won’t bore you with all the details from the trip, but here are some amazing photos from the oddly named Dead Chicken Alley. Apparently I grew wings!
When we got to Copenhagen we were essentially killing time to get in to the hostel to take a shower. That is definitely in my top 3 showers of all time. Actually I’m bumping it up to numero uno.
Does anyone else do that?!
I have top 5 pees as well but that’s a whole other story.
I would highly recommend visiting all of these places and even the sweaty train was an experience and a half. If anyone wants any recommendations of where to go or how to book just ask. The canal trip in Copenhagen was well worth it and we found some wee gems of food places as you can see. Catering for wheat free and dairy free isn’t easy, but we managed fine.
And that's a wrap folks! Short and sweet this week.
Points for discussion:
* Does anyone else rate their top 5's for showers???
* Any Euro travelling top tips to share??
And last but by no means least, I have to mention the highlight of the Appin Social Calendar this week – THE APPIN SHOW!
Please come along for a great day. The committee put in so much work to put the show on and this year is no exception. Cheap bar as well!!! Hopefully see you there
PS, not sure if anyone got the song stuck in their head after reading the title… but here it is just in case. You are welcome
