That is honestly how I felt on Saturday, about to toss (an admittedly smaller than usual) caber for the first time in my life. Turns out I was actually quite good at it!! Not great at the welly wanging, or sheep tossing or shot putt, but I can flip a big tyre pretty well too!
So this weekend I was on a hen do with a great group of girls and I can’t wait for the wedding now that I’ve got to know my pal’s other pals! I was excited for it anyway, but this just ramped up the buzz even more.
So Aberfeldy is absolutely the place to be for a hen. Moness resort has some cracking wee cottages and there are plenty of activities. Sadly the 30mph winds put paid to the water trampolining on Loch Tay, but I’m secretly quite glad as I could sense it would’ve been one of the nation newspaper headline moments if we had actually tried it. I would highly recommend Taymouth Marina however, lots to do! When it’s not too windy.
I know I look horrendous but this was after the face paint relay and it was completely chucking it down for most of the time. It just goes to show you how dedicated we were to winning the first race that none of the teams took extra time to get artistic with the facepaint... All very well behaved!
Lots of great fun to be had. We went back to the flats after a quick stint in the outdoor hot tub. Well, actually I just sat outside and got tucked in to the picnic and prosecco as I had forgotten my swimsuit. But I thoroughly enjoyed it so no loss there. And meant I didn’t have to get showered twice. I LOVE showering, but I hate getting dried/changed.
It was then on to the cocktail making and most of them involved gin to my absolute delight!
My first revelation of the weekend was that the Artisan Cafe in Tyndrum exists. The second revelation was that it is AMAZING!
Some photos above, it’s a converted church and everything is home made and amazing. They did well considering our party had dairy free and gluten free needs, but honestly please look it up and stop next time you get a chance.
Please don’t worry if you see me at the side of the road with this contraption. I seem to have developed a slow puncture – unfortunately not on one my own tyres. But hey ho, I’m cracking on regardless.
Now, possibly one of the best things to happen this year (quite the claim I know, and very exaggerated) was this thing of beauty! Those reading this that went to OHS, who remembers SHIT CAKES?!?!?! Or jobbie cakes if you want to be slightly more polite. The holy grail of canteen food. What was your favourite high school snack?! Thanks so much to Kristeen MacL and the OHS canteen staff for producing these bad boys for the hen party.
Karen's Top Tip of the Week!
In the small hope of bringing some structure to this thing that’s apparently called a blog, but I more think of it as random words pouring out of my head, I’m going to try and do a top tip every week.
This week is one of my very own and probably the most useless thing you’ll hear all year. BUT, as I got in the car last week and got caught in a shower, my jacket got wet. It wasn’t going to be overly long till I got out the car again. So I decided to put the jacket (outside side down) on my passenger seat and crank up the seat warmer. I only ever use the heated passenger seat to frighten folk and make them think they’ve peed themselves when I secretly turn it on, but this week it had an actual purpose! The jacket dried off enough for me to put it on again – woo!
Now, I've been experimenting this week with Chatbots. Bit like an AI version of myself and I can use it to send messages on Facebook Messenger. They can be helpful for a lot of things I'm sure, but I wanted just to see how they could be used for a bit of craic and to lighten and brighten up people's day! So if you are slightly intrigued and want to help me out on my chatbot journey, please click on the link below ONCE YOU'VE FINISHED READING OBVIOUSLY!!! I'll get some feedback at a later point from all you lovely willing folks.
That’s it from me really, not much on this week except a lot of eating and drinking. The gym session on Tuesday certainly dubbed me in for a weekend of being ‘off plan’ after Laura saw my times for my exercises. Ah well, you can’t be good ALLLLLLL the time eh?
Please tell me your favourite school snacks and let’s hear about some nice food that I can’t eat. Oh the torture!
Have a great week, I’ll leave you with this thought…..
I’m just not overly sure about the food part….
